Things To Do At Home

Updated: Apr 17, 2020

While the spread of Coronavirus travels throughout the world leaving all of us drawn inside our homes and bedrooms, I thought now would be a great time to write a blog post on how to entertain yourself from the confines of your home.

1. Film marathon

A great way to kick off your self-isolation is with a film fest, so grab your friends, a few snacks and snuggle up in a blanket to watch that series you have been craving. Now is the time to take advantage of this unfortunate disaster and binge Netflix to your hearts content, after all an opportunity to lie all day in your pjs might not come around again.

2. Redecorate

Being stuck in your home can get boring very fast, as we all know there are only so many days you can spend lying around in bed watching films. Taking on a project such as redecorating or reorganising not only fills up time in the day but allows you to do that makeover you have always wanted. It also stops you from being bored of staring at the same four walls and makes for a cosy lair to chill in while you out wait the virus.

3. Arts and Crafts

Another way to keep you entertained and maybe create some cool new fashion pieces or decorations is through arts and crafts. The possibilities are endless with this idea, whether it be painting on a denim jacket to make an original piece that no one else has or making your own staple jewellery. These options are examples of a few ways you could freshen up your own wardrobe and have everyone fawning of your latest fashion pieces in summer.

4. Learning Tik Tok Dances

This is one I must admit I am guilty of, but since downloading the app I discovered that it is surprisingly fun to do and again stops you from counting down the hours till bedtime. Some of my favourite dances include the songs of ‘Don’t Start Now’, ‘Get Up’ and of course ‘Sunday Best’ so start learning now. Or if you’re a dancer you can even make up your own, but those who known me know that this is not an ability I possess.

5. Self care nights

I love self-care nights so much that they have become an important part of my week when I am stressed or simply feel like treating myself. I typically start the night with a warm shower or bath (If I am at home but unfortunately I don’t have the luxury of that at university) using a hair mask, which is not an essential step but since dying my hair it has become necessary to do to keep it moisturised. My current pick at the moment is the ‘Garnier Ultimate Blends Hair Food Banana & Shea Hair Mask’, simply leave on for 10 minutes and your hair will be transformed into softness. After feeling fresh from a shower I will put on my favourite pair of pjs and fluffy socks, jump into bed and cover my face in a mask, my favourite currently is the ‘Sand & Sky Australian Pink Clay Porefining Face Mask’. Then I will basically carry out of my nightime skin care routine, light candles next to my bed, eat chocolate and watch Netflix. I would recommend doing this every once a while as it helps to relive stress and takes care of your skin at the same time.

6. Exercise

As a gym lover, having to skip my workouts has been a real bummer till I realised I could just exercise at home. Whether it be doing an ab routine or yoga, it automatically places you in a good mood due to the endorphins released whilst keeping you on top of your fitness goals whatever they may be. So jump on the floor and get to it, since most of us still probably need to get that summer bod ready.
