With summer fast approaching and by that I mean it's basically here in the UK as we have reached our peak temperature of 24 degrees, I have been restocking/reorganising my wardrobe to accommodate for those ‘hot’ summer days. Some of these pieces I have worn and enjoyed for years whilst others are brand new; one other thing to note is that I bought mostly everything in a UK size 10 unless stated otherwise, so let’s get into it…
Dresses
Because if you can’t get your legs out in summer then when can you...
This lilac number from ASOS is the perfect fit for summer, as the purple flowers which line the dress are adorable. It is made out of a light woven fabric that is breathable, which means that you won’t be sweating while you enjoy a G&T in the garden. The dress has a loose but flattering fit, so you don’t look like a cardboard box, which we all know is not a good look. All in all, this is my favourite dress this summer and I will be sure to wear it in my garden, since there’s nowhere else to go but we can pretend, can’t we?
This next dress which I purchased in a Medium is again from ASOS and was a last minute add into my basket, but once it arrived it did not disappoint. This dreamy minty blue colour stands out against the pink and white flowers that cover the dress. The top half around the bust is tighter fitting and ruched, which adds shape to the dress whilst the bottom balloons out making it perfect for a brunch with the girls. The cute buttons lining the front and the bow tied straps give it that cute picnic look, so get out that wicker basket ladies with this one.
Shorts
Everyone knows that a pair of denim shorts is essential for summer, as they go with pretty much anything and give off that effortlessly cool look. Even though there are tons of denim shorts that litter online shopping sites, in my experience I have found that few are able to fully cover the peach. This particular pair I picked up from New Look in a UK size 12 a few years back and as you can see in the photo they fit like a glove, which is helped by the elasticated paper bag waistline that has become a trend.

These gingham shorts from In The Style are my current summer favourite, as they are high waisted and, again, give you that perfect picnic ready look. I bought these in a size 12 as they looked to be quite tight online; however, this wasn't the case at all, making them a shoe-in for those summer lunches. As well as the cute square design, the shorts are lined inside, have pockets on the bum and belt loops, which is useful so I can't wait to wear these in the sunshine.

These grey shorts from Topshop are perfect to lounge about in the house for when you need those moments of shade from the sun. The white lining which outlines the shorts reminds me of basketball for some reason and they look cute paired with a basic tee and trainers.

Skirts
This wrap around midi skirt from New Look is super cute with the tiny white flowers that cover the entire skirt. The lightweight material of the skirt makes it the perfect beach cover up to wear under a bikini or at a garden party. However, I would recommend wearing shorts underneath if you’re not at the beach, as the side slit is very high, so for all you dare devils out there this is the one for you.

Cardigan
This cardigan from NastyGal is perfect to throw on in cooler summer evenings when you just need something on your arms. I have been wearing it either as a top which has become a trend or over a dress; however, the cream pretty much goes with whatever you have in your wardrobe. The neckline is flattering as there is a small plunge; although, nothing major that you have to worry about. The knit material is super lightweight compared to a winter jumper making it ideal for summer.

A lightweight jacket
As any Brit knows summer isn’t necessarily always filled with blue skies and sunshine so a jacket is vital for that cloudy day when you still need a light layer on your midday walk. I purchased this oversized pink button-down jacket from Zara in a size Small and I love the cord detailing making it the perfect throw on for any windy summer day.

Summer jeans
As soon as I saw these trousers from Primark I fell in love with the unique blue and white stripy pattern. These mom jeans that I purchased in a UK size 12 are my favourite for the summer months, as even though they are wide ledged they fit me perfectly around the waist without squishing the peach.
